Pope Benedict XVI's proclamations this weekend are indications of God's presence in the early Americas. True examples of answering the call to a holy life, Kateri Tekakwitha and Sr. Marianne Cope were both declared saints!
ReplyDeleteThe terrible losses of the institutional church and the de-christianization of France in the French Revolution didn't keep the holy apostles in the Catholic Church during the Enlightenment years from bringing the gospel to the farthest corners of the East and the West. The despotic regimes that colluded to suppress the Jesuits were nearly all overthrown and the Jesuit mission work came out from forty years underground to continue out in the open.
